Fred served in the Marine Corp in Vietnam and was looking forward to visiting Parris Island where he had trained over forty years ago. Since we were so close we decided to drive over so he could see how much things had changed.

Parris Island is located near Beaufort, South Carolina in the middle of a swamp! We were able to go aboard (as they say in the Marines) and Fred got to look around. Graduation was scheduled for that Friday and we watched the new Marines prepare for the ceremony.
